Connexus’ 2025 budget includes a modest general rate increase of ~3%, which includes a $1 basic service charge increase. Some load management programs will also see adjustments.
Connexus rates remain below the national average. Our residential members on average pay about $119 per month. That amount allows you to light your home, use your kitchen appliances, run your air conditioner and furnace, charge your cell phone – all this and more for $3.90 per day. When you consider how much electricity enhances your everyday life, this remains a great value.
The price you pay for electricity includes costs for power generation, transmission and distribution. On average, about 75% of your electrical costs can be attributed to purchasing power and transmission, while 25% covers delivery or distribution to your home or business.
Understanding your bill
Your residential electric bill contains important information. The graphics below explain the various components of your bill.
- Cost of Basic Service: Most residential members pay $15.50 per month to cover the cost of providing safe, reliable electric service.
- Residential Energy Charge: Measured in kilowatt hours (kWh), the residential energy charge is based on the amount of electricity used.
- Power Cost Adjustment (PCA): The Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) reflects monthly fluctuations in the cost of fuel and purchased wholesale power since rates were set. Depending on wholesale power prices, it is either set at zero or as a surcharge or a credit.
